Catholic Or Christian -.-?

Please don’t judge me!
Lately I have been really successful in college, and with my family. I strongly believe that I owe it all to GOD, and that he helps me be a better person so one day I can help my family. I am a child of 5, 5girls and 1 boy. My mother has 4in University and me in College. Lately is been hard on my poor dear mother, and what we do we like to help her out around the house, when she gets home from work, cook for her, have bath ready point is We love our mother so much. My father works too much as a landscaper. I adore him with all my heart. We are children that have never been out to clubs or drink. Last year on my birthday my mother was not feeling well, and we told her to go to the hospital. I told God please help her, then on Christmas it was the same, I told God help her. My mom never when to the hospital and she would get better. I think God was hearing me.
I think my mom has cancer, and it makes me cry like now =_( I love her. I rather have GOD take me over her; she has been the best mother. One who work almost 13hrs a day =( The deal is that we are Catholics, but my parents don’t really go to church. The times that I’ve gone I sit in the front so I can feel GOD close to me, yet I don’t. Then I went to a Christian church, and I have never felt GOD so in me. Maybe it was my mind playing games with me, or it was him telling everything is going to be ok.
I am thinking of converting to Christianity, but my professor and grandmother are not so happy(Coming from a Hispanic Family). My mother and father ..Well I don’t think they will get mad; therefore they chose my religion as I was a child. I am 20years old. I believe I should choose my decision. Would it make me a bad person If I were to do that? I feel I need Jesus in me, to lead me. Thank You for reading. God bless you all.
My friend said this, he is Christian. Well Catholicism is Christianity. Catholics were were one of the first Christian Churches. But the protestant churches broke off of the catholic Church. So no, you wouldn't be converting. You still be a Christian. :) follow your heart. God is definitely there with you every step of the way. :)

God isn’t there with me! What a crazy person!

  • Mackenzi:

This just makes no sense because Catholics are Christian.
Whether you stay Catholic or convert to some Protestant denomination, they still follow Jesus.
Why are you so troubled? Follow what you believe.

  • darwinsfriend3 AM:

    Catholics are Christians

  • hasse_jo:

both are heathenism. YAHUSHUA kept Torah, and His followers will also. He wants to help each one, but there is a plan, and people generally refuse to follow it.

    fallen away Catholics

  • Butterfly Christie ƸӜƷ:

They both don’t accept Thor as their personal savior, so both is heresy. =D
Study Christianity, see what evidence it has, and come to your own decision based on what shows to be true, rather than what you feel pressured to believe.

  • Toaster Jenkins:

Catholic is wrong because they worship Mary. Read this testimony http://spiritlessons.com/Documents/Prepa… under the title of Hell about Jesus brought a girl to witness heaven and hell. Jesus told her that those who offer the mass and worship Mary won’t be saved. He also let her see Pope John Paul II in hell.

Follow God where ever you find him. I felt close to God on a bush walk, I didn’t feel the need to live in the bush. Belonging to a community of faith gives you a space to worship and an opportunity to respond, but church does not have a monoply on God experiences.
Choosing Catholic or Protestant/Christian has little to do with worshipping God, it more about family and culture, and that what you reveal in your question. Can you worship in a way that is different to the way your family worships? The answer is Yes you must. You must find God in your own space and time. Your mission is to make his love present to others in your own skin.

Catholics believe that a lifetime of good works is required to have some hope of entering heaven. In contrast, the Bible says, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Rom. 4:5).
According to God’s word, if you simply believe on the name of the Son of God: Jesus; you can be absolutely certain of eternal life right now. It depends upon what Jesus has already done by virtue of His death on the cross and resurrection, not what we may or may not do.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

I am 68 years old and converted from a Protestant denomination to the Catholic Church when I was 27 y/o, just so you know where I am coming from. The Catholic Church was not one of the earliest denominations, it was the only Church for a thousand years when the Orthodox broke away a little and then the protestants broke away in the 1600′s. Sometimes you will hear Protestants say that Catholics are not Christians but we are more Christian than anyone!
You are going through a hard time with the possibility that your mother has cancer and I would be like you and feel that I need God to help me through this. God is with you whether you are in church or not and He will help you in this difficult time whether you stay Catholic or convert to a Protestant Denomination.
It is usually not a good idea to make a big decision when you are in a stressful time and I would encourage you to ask God for help you and increase your understanding during this stressful time, then make a decision when you are in a better place emotionally. I have found it is generally not a good idea to make big decisions based on emotions. I know one of your friends said you should follow your heart but I don’t believe your heart and your emotions are the same thing.
Why does a person choose one of the Christian churches to belong to and go to? I think the best decision is that you believe that their teachings are closest to the truth and closest to what the Bible says ( The Bible is the truth). Yes, it is also good to feel like you are comfortable in that church. Ask God to help you make this decision, He never fails to help me with this kind of thing.
I just read Toaster Jenkins and Doug. Neither one of them knows what the Bible says or what the Catholic Church teaches. They are both just assuming that what someone told them or what they read is true.
God bless you and I hope that I have written something that has been helpful to you.
